Requirements: Photoshop (any version)


Ok this is a very simple tutorial, it is at a beginners level.

Step 1: Start by making a new document @ 200x100 pixels. (you can make it bigger or smaller)

Step 2: Fill the background layer black and then duplicate the background layer.


Step 3: Now on the duplicated layer (background copy) go to filter>render>lens flare and use setting similar to bellow

    

Step 4: Now here you have 2 choices. Either use a gaussian blur or a motion blur.
If you choose gaussian blur set it to around 3 pixels and if you choose motion blur use an angle of 6 and distance of 39
* each blur will achieve different results so try both. But for this tut i will use gaussian blur

Step 5: Now go to Image>Adjustments>Desaturate

Step 6: And finally go to Image>Adjustments>Color Balance
and you may use settings like bellow:

Midtones:-68, -30, +16
Highlights:+67, +24, -100


Step 7: Now you can use the smudge tool if you want and smudge rays from the sun
Also maybe run the Color Balance again, except only set the midtone level to +100, 0, 0

This is all, you are now done. Experiment and have fun
